About the area:
Located in the Northern part of South Dakota the town is located along the Missouri River as a prime crossing for the region, which has provided the area with growth based on an economy driven by agriculture, tourism, and recreation. The town is home to about 3,500 residents, with about 5,500 residents in Walworth County.
The area offers an abundance of outdoor activities year-round and is proudly known as the Walleye Capital of the World. Many people travel to the area for hunting and fishing from across the country, especially for the large ice fishing tournament held each January. There is an annual rodeo, which celebrated its 75thAnniversary in 2020, that includes a variety of celebrations, and the rodeo facilities just completed a $2M renovation. The rodeo is in conjunction with a large celebration each 4th of July, which in turn creates a busier time of year for the hospital’s ED.
The town stays active as a community, with a summertime drive-in theater, indoor movie theater, outdoor swimming pool with water slides, indoor pool at the Wrangler Inn, country club with a golf course, municipal airport (recent $5M renovation), community event center, casino, Sitting Bull College, a 2.5-mile walking path, variety of real estate options on the river, in town or on land, a city park and main street with shops, grocery stores, restaurants and more. The town has men’s and women’s softball leagues, golf leagues & tournaments, Core Fitness (gym offering state-of-the-art equipment) and a disc golf course.
Many community members are family oriented and there are many strong family ties in the area. The School District is committed to ensuring students are well-rounded and offer a variety of sports (football, basketball, volleyball, golf, cross country, track & wrestling), fine arts and other activities, including Robotics, One Act Plays, Yearbook, Culture Club and more in addition to a strong education. There is also a Mobridge Youth Organization with activities for Pre-k to 6th grade, including flag football, tackle football, soccer, tee ball, baseball, cheerleading, softball, tennis, volleyball and basketball. The community has a strong faith-based community offering youth groups and activities for adults alike.
A rare opportunity to build a program and a practice. All with 4 seasons, cheap housing, a relaxed lifestyle. And the Midwest vibe that makes you appreciate what the good life really is!
